Creating a Publicly Shareable Link to a Connection

Do you need to create a shareable link to another person who doesn't have a remote.it account? This can only be accomplished with a proxy connection and not peer to peer. If you would like your other users to make peer to peer connections, they would need to create a remote.it account and you would share the device or the specific service with them.

There are two ways to make a publicly sharable link. You must be the owner of the device.

  1. If you have a HTTP/HTTPS service, you can create a Persistent Public URLs for HTTP/HTTPS.
  2. This article describes a way to make one which is temporary, but will work on any type of service.

To make a temporary publicly shareable link do the following:

  1. Sign into Remote. It and find the device which has the service you would like to share and click on it.
  2. Click on the service and you will see the details for the service in the right pane
  3. If using the desktop application, you will change the Connection Configuration to change Routing to "Public Proxy". If using app.remote.it

The connection panel will update to show you the connection information. Copy the link and share that with your other users.

NOTE: A temporary sharable link will only stay alive for 15 minutes after last activity or 8 hours max. If you are using the desktop application and quit your desktop application, the connection will be closed for yourself and all other users. You can also stop the connection manually for all users by clicking the "Stop Connection" button.
