Local Web Access

If you have a device like a Raspberry Pi with Remote. It installed, you can use it to access other devices on the same local network—even if those other devices can't run Remote. It themselves. We call this a jumpbox.

This lets you connect to things like:

  • A local web interface on a printer, camera, router, or sensor

  • A device that can’t install Remote. It, but shares the same LAN

🔧 What You’ll Need

  • A Raspberry Pi (or any computer) on the same network as the device you want to reach

  • Remote. It installed and running on a device like a Raspberry Pi which will be used to "jump" to the other services

  • The LAN IP address and port number of the device you want to access (e.g., 192.168.1.50:8080) you may not have a port if you just use your browser to access an IP address.

🚀 How It Works

Instead of installing Remote. It on the target device (which might not be possible), you:

  1. Install Remote. It on a nearby device, like a Raspberry Pi. See Jump Services

  2. Create a “Jump Service” in Remote. It on the Pi that points to the IP and port of the other device.

  3. Connect to that service using Remote. It from your computer, phone, or tablet.

Remote. It will route the connection through the Pi to access your device.

🛠️ How to Set It Up (Step-by-Step)

1. Set Up Remote. It on the Jumpbox

If you haven’t already:

2. Create a Jump Service

  1. Go to your device list using the Remote. It Desktop, Remote. It Web Portal , or Mobile on another device.

  2. Click on the Jumpbox device.

  3. Click + “Add Service”

  4. Choose HTTP/HTTPS, depending on your target device.

  5. In the “Service Host Address” field, enter the LAN address you want to reach. For, example https://192.168.2.212:8080 or http://192.168.2.212

  6. Give the service a name like “Camera Web UI”.

  7. Click Save.

🔌 How to Use the Jump Service

  1. Open the Remote. It Desktop App, Web Portal, or Mobile App on the device you which will be using the connection.

  2. Find your jumpbox device and click on the jump service you created.

  3. Click Connect.

  4. You’ll get a connection link or address to open in your browser or application.

    • You can also set a different browser if desired or more advanced settings such as host header overrides  See more on connection settings.

NOTE: This connection information is private to you and will not work if shared to anyone else

That’s it—you’re connected to the target device through the jumpbox!

Optionally, you can create a public url which could be used by anyone. See more here

🧠 Helpful Tips

  • This works whether your devices are on cellular or Starlink and whereever you are located when connecting.

  • The jumpbox must stay powered on and connected to the network. (Not sleeping or hibernating)

  • You can create multiple jump services for different devices (cameras, dashboards, etc.). Even to different types of services like Remote Desktop or a NAS

  • You don’t need to open ports or set static IPs—it’s all handled securely by Remote.It.
