Setup

To get started you must have:

You are now ready to setup ScreenView. You will be guided through granting the application the necessary permissions to allow remote viewing, or full device control. The in-app instructions will guide you through the process below:

  1. Registration

Tap the large "Get Registration Code" button to auto register a your Remote. It account on the device itself. If you would like to register with another device or computer, tap the "enter a code manually" link below it.

You can get a device registration code to manually enter from any application. Just log into your account, press the blue "+" button and select "Android". You can now copy a registration code from that account or any organization account you may belong to. Ensure you have the ScreenView service added. This is the default state.

Alternatively you can also use the manual registration code to restore a previously lost device by finding the old device in Remote. It and getting a "Restore Code" from the device dropdown menu. You want to only copy the code, not the full command.

  2. View Permission

After registration you will be prompted to allow view access to the device. Android uses a permission model to ensure data safety, and taping the "Allow Viewing" button will prompt the system to allow screen sharing. Afterwards, tap the "Start Now" button when prompted so that you can share the device screen.

  3. Remote Control - optional

If you would like to control the device remotely then you will also have to tap the "Allow Control" button. From here you will be taken to the system's Accessibility settings page. Different versions of Android all appear slightly different, but you will have to tap "Installed apps" and then "Remote. It ScreenView". Some versions of Android will have the "Remote. It ScreenView" link already visible.

Once you have reached the Remote. It ScreenView accessibility page you must turn the setting ON. Then return to the ScreenView app.

  4. Keyboard Control - optional

The last permission that can be granted to fully setup ScreenView is remote Keyboard control. To allow a remote user to use their keyboard to control your device you will be guided through a two step system process.

"Register Keyboard" will allow the system to use the Remote. It Keyboard for remote typing. You will be taken to the keboards page where you have to turn on the "Remote. It Keyboard". Return to the app.

"Select Keyboard" will prompt you to change your active keyboard. Again select the "Remote. It Keyboard" to allow remote keyboard access.

    Setup is now complete!

Connecting

Once registered, your new Android device will appear in the devices tab in the Remote. It apps. You can select it, and the ScreenView service, then "Connect" from anywhere that has a browser. The device will be notified of any connections and may need to grant screen view permission if it hasn't been already granted.

Configuration

After setup you can tap on the "Settings" tab to view or modify any of the permissions that have been granted. Additionally you will be able to "Shutdown" the background process if you would like to completely stop Remote. It without uninstalling, and you will be able to "Remove" the device from our system. Removing the device will remove the background processes but leave the device in our system in case you would like to restore it later.
