Persistent Public URLs for HTTP/HTTPS

Desktop Version >=3.19.1 and app.remote.it

Remote.It offers an option on an HTTP or HTTPS connection to generate a shareable endpoint URL. This can be useful for service providers who offer a web portal for their customers or colleagues to use without the need for everyone to have a Remote.It account and subsequently require belonging to the Organization or add sharing for each user.

To add some security to the endpoint, you can optionally add a global password to the connection and you also can revoke it at any time.

To use the feature, you must use the Desktop Application and be either the device owner or belong to an Organization where you have Manage permissions on the device. For more on organization and roles, click here.

Configuration:

Navigate to the Connection Page of a Service. (Device List>Device>Click on the HTTP or HTTPS service)

In the "Configuration" section of the Connection Page, toggle Persistent Public URL. Additionally, you can choose to add a Password to Authenticate before the user is allowed to view the web page.

Set up video:

Once you have copied the URL, you can then share it. If you set a password, be sure to also provide the password.

If you toggle the Persistent public url off, it will not longer be available. Each time you enable it, the url will change.

Connecting

With the url provided in the blue connection box, you or another user can use it in a browser.

If a password was set, then you will be prompted to enter the password before viewing the webpage.

If there is no password set, then a splash screen where the user has to click continue will be displayed unless the device is licensed with a Business, Fleet, or Enterprise Plan. For example, if you plan to use the url for an API, you will need to have a Business, Fleet, or Enterpise Plan license for the device to allow the request to complete.
